Darren Palmer directing youth group
Due to the success of Lobster Production's work with the Customs House Youth Theatre Group we are delighted that from the summer of 2006 we will be taking control of the Youth Theatre Group. This opportunity should not be missed by any budding performer. If you are aged between 11 to 18 and want to work with Lobster Productions please e-mail your details to

The last piece of drama we completed with the Customs House Youth Theatre Group was over a 3 month period when we worked with 24 teenagers. After discussing ideas for a show they decided to improvise around situations that upset or annoyed young people. A working script was devised around topics like parents, old people and bullies. The piece, called KIDZ, was performed at The Customs House in South Shields and was a resounding success. Anna Snell, Arts Development Worker at The Customs House was particularly impressed.
Anna Snell says: Darren Palmer has worked
successfully with The Customs House Youth Theatre on several
occasions. Most notably editing and directing 'Sparkleshark'.
Most recently devising and directing a twenty minute show
called 'Kidz' which was shown in the main auditorium as part
of our 10th Anniversary Celebrations. Darren is popular with
the youth group members and quickly builds a rapport with
them. He has the ability to make every child feel that their
role is important and has given them all an equal opportunity
to shine. Over the weeks Darren has tried to raise children's
confidence but has insisted on commitment and hard work from
everyone taking part. His creative performance methods have
helped expand the children's creative thinking and entertained
audiences on several occasions. I would recommend Darren to
any Youth Theatre Group or School in need of a committed enthusiastic
director.
Darren Palmer currently teaches Drama at
the Sage Academy for the Performing Arts. This professional
academy has recently opened in Newcastle with full time courses
for anybody wishing to pursue a career in the performing arts.
