Dangle
In The Dust, Lobster Productions,
...
This black comedy is set in the changing room of a professional
rugby club somewhere in England. Young John Foster, a newcomer
to the club - "an investment in the future"... has
the chance of gaining an English cap. Will he take the illegal
performance-enhancing drug offered him by the club's physio?...
funny, shocking and thought-provoking.
ABOUT.COM

'Dangle' is a dramatic comedy with rugby songs and contains
very strong language, simulated violence and some male nudity.
Audience participation in the singing has proved popular at
some venues!
The show has been staged to critical, and
audience, acclaim at 11 rugby clubs, the Newcastle Falcons,
the Customs House Theatre in South Shields and at the Roman
Eagle Lodge as part of the 2001 Edinburgh Festival where it
received a 4 star review.
The show, which
lasts about one hour, is updated to take into account latest
news and rugby events. The cast of 3 professional actors are
always keen to have a pint or two after the show with the
audience to discuss issues raised in the play about fame,
fortune and the pressures on young people to succeed.
Darren Palmer
Director and Actor
Ex professional footballer with spells
in Sweden and Canada as well as Blyth Spartans and South Shields.
Darren became a professional actor with Northern Stage after

fight director and drama teacher. more>>
Ken Reay
Writer
Played rugby for 30 years for Sunderland
RFC, The Dolphins and Westoe RFC where he proudly ended his
career playing second row for The Senators in two cup winning
sides. Has written a number of plays for the professional
stage and Radio 4. Says the Dangle In The Dust is 'like Faust
on steroids' and that at least one of the characters is based
on a number of players he has met at rugby clubs throughout
the North East! more>>
